A Life Built Around Softball

If anyone knows what it takes to be a star student-athlete, it’s Rachel Coleman. She’s lived and breathed softball since she was a little girl — playing on local Little League All-Star teams, joining a travel team at age 12, playing a National Gold Schedule in the 8th grade, and making varsity as a freshman. In high school, she led her team from the mound to a 2008 State Championship Title.

When she wasn’t playing, she was coaching. At 15 she started giving private lessons. By 18 she was running a travel team. During a gold team tryout a coach told her she had all the qualities to become one of the top softball coaches in the country. Her destiny was clear.

Rachel was recruited to play Division I softball at Rider University, where a shoulder injury cut her playing career short — but never slowed her down. She transferred to the University of Delaware to earn degrees in Sports Management and Coaching Science, and went on to learn from some of the greatest minds in college softball.
